Lorain Harbor Lighthouse
The Lorain Harbor Lighthouse is one of the most iconic monuments in Lorain. Often called the “Jewel of the Port”, the lighthouse is located on the north end of the West Harbor Breakwater in Lorain Harbor, right over Lake Erie. Although it’s no longer in use as a lighthouse, it stands as a symbolic landmark of Lorain’s history with a beautiful, picturesque view of Lake Erie. Tours of the lighthouse are available, as well as romantic sunset dinners, all departing by boat ride from our very own Port Lorain marina!
Lakeview Park
Lakeview Park is Lorain’s first lakeside recreation park, located right by the shores of Lake Erie. The park spans 20 acres and features a historic rose garden, a beach, a playground, a lawn bowling court, a bathhouse, a cafe, and a stunning view of the sunset over Lake Erie. Great for some outdoor fun!
Lorain Historical Society at the Carnegie Center and the Moore House Museum
The Lorain Historical Society, formerly the Black River Historical Society, is dedicated to preserving Lorain’s local history and teaching locals and tourists alike about it. While their main base of operations is in the Carnegie Center, they also manage the Moore House Museum. They offer events, educational programs, and of course, historical tours, including a History Boat Tour that departs from Port Lorain.
Lorain Palace Theater
The Lorain Palace Theater has been hosting all manner of live shows, movie premiers, concerts, plays, and more, since 1928. At the time of its opening, it was the largest one-floor theater in the state of Ohio, was the first theater in the state to show talking motion pictures, and remains a historic and beloved venue. Lorain Skate World
For a fun, family-friendly activity that everyone is sure to enjoy, you can head on over to Lorain Skate World and test out your skills on the rink! If you’re new to skating, Lorain Skate World also offers beginners’ classes and lessons from seasoned, professional coaches. The venue is also open for special events and parties.
Mile-Long Pier
Lorain’s own Mile-Long Pier is the best way to enjoy the city’s stunning skyrise, especially during sunset. Located right near Port Lorain Marina, the Mile-Long Pier features brick pavers to give the appearance of walking on a traditional wooden boardwalk and is an excellent spot to fish, take a stroll, or just relax and enjoy the view. Plus, if you ever start feeling peckish, the Erie Steak & Seafood Co. restaurant is right nearby.
Rockin’ on the River
If you’re lucky enough to be in the area on a Friday or Saturday night, Rockin’ on the River is a must-see event in Lorain, Ohio. Rockin’ on the River is Ohio’s longest-running outdoor concert event and the most attended. Featuring national, regional, and local talent, this event brings you live bands, a light show, food, beverages, beer, and local vendors.
